I was assaulted and tasered by two Cleveland County deputies, A.D. Collins and Shane Ledbetter on Sept. 7, 2006 and nearly killed by the 50,000 volt taser because Deputy Ledbetter held the trigger down through several 5-second cycles. Law Enforcement Officers "love" the taser because it has been legally determined that the taser is a non-lethal weapon and the LEO's can use the device to abuse and punish their "victims" without concern of being prosecuted for violation of the US-Constitution 8th Amendment, abuse of police powers. If I had not pulled out one of the taser-darts when the wire became entangled in my fingers I would have been killed by the continuing 5-second shocks from the taser and because I weighed 250 pounds and am 6-feet 5-inches tall at the time I was tasered. The COPS do-not want to have the taser declared a lethal weapon which is suppose to be used for defensive purposes only. The North Carolina district attorneys, judges, and law enforcement officials will go to any length to protect the cops who abuse the use of the taser. I am a former USMC vietnam war veteran, retired college professor with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Biophysics and know the tasers are deadly weapons in the hands of abusive law enforcement officers, most who have only a 1-year to 2-year criminal justice degree/certification and will to anything to protect their job, even committing perjury on the witness stand to protect their jobs.
